Since Touchtone Mental Health was founded in 1982 by five social workers, we have delivered cutting-edge programs and services to Twin Cities’ adults living with severe mental illness. The following is a brief timeline outlining our 29 year history of inspiring hope, healing and well-being.
- 1982 Community Care Corporation incorporates and opens Sentinel House, a residential treatment program in Minneapolis.
- 1985 Breckinridge House opens as a second residential treatment facility in New Hope.
- 1991 Community Care Corporation starts to provide home-based case management to consumers residing in Hennepin County.
- 1999 Community Care Corporation becomes a non-profit organization.
- 2004 Community Care Corporation changes its name to Touchstone Mental Health.
- 2004 First Integrative Healing Services offered including acupuncture and healing touch.
- 2004 Breckinridge House becomes Touchstone Assisted Living Apartments, the first in Minnesota for persons with serious and persistent mental illness.
- 2005 Touchstone Residential Treatment becomes an Intensive Residential Treatment (IRTS) program.
- 2006 Touchstone’s first Intentional Community is formed in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis – the first Intentional Community in Minnesota for adults with serious mental illness.
- 2007 Touchstone develops a second Intentional Community in the Phillips Neighborhood in South Minneapolis.
- 2008 Touchstone Case Management Services develops Intensive Community Rehabilitative Services as a pilot project with Hennepin County and the State of Minnesota.
- 2009 Touchstone Assisted Living Apartments expands capacity to 19 residents.
- 2009 Touchstone Assisted Living Apartments receives Minnesota Care Providers Dare to Be Great Award for the resident/staff Step Up Club
- 2009 Touchstone Intentional Communities are recognized by the National Council of Behavioral Healthcare Organizations for its innovative approach and success.
- 2009 Touchstone Care Coordination begins providing care guide services for Metropolitan Health Plan’s Cornerstone Solutions members.
- 2010 Touchstone Rising Cedar Capital Campaign is launched to raise funds to build the country’s first health and wellness center with adjoining long-term housing apartments dedicated to adults with mental illness.
