This position requires a caring and motivated individual who will support adults who have severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and/or dual diagnosis. This position is responsible to provide rehabilitative skills, guidance, encouragement and support for clients to assist individuals to reach their goals.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain the vision, mission and values of Touchstone Mental Health (TMH).
- Remain up-to-date regarding the various programs of TMH.
- Remain up-to-date regarding agency policies and procedures and perform all functions in accordance with TMH policies and procedures.
- Provide the highest quality of customer service consistent with TMH’s values and standards.
Supportive & Motivational Client Relations
- Demonstrate leadership and sound judgment when representing the IRTS program at Touchstone Mental Health.
- Establish supportive and motivational relationships with residents; coach residents to utilize coping strategies and complete activities of daily living; assist in the completion of independent living skills; and provide rehabilitative skills training.
- Observe residents for changes in health symptoms; redirect maladaptive behaviors; perform behavioral management interventions; and de-escalate mental health crises.
- Perform delegated nursing services, including the administration of medications, as an unlicensed personnel under the direction of the nursing staff.
- Promote participation in community activities; provide support and prompts that encourage socialization; forward feedback about community activities to Activities and Living Skills Coordinators; and when needed, attend community activities.
- Support the cleanliness of common areas and bedrooms and complete housekeeping duties.
- Ensure residents and their guests are following site guidelines to ensure the facility is safe and secure.
- Collaborate with other staff members, consultants, interns and/or volunteers in the general operations of the IRTS program.
- Support Touchstone Mental Health’s vision, mission, core values and philosophy.
- Comply with agency and program protocols, procedures, processes, policies and practices.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and training opportunities; and maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Promote creating an overall positive community atmosphere, recovery and psychiatric stability through the use of established rehabilitative principles and best practices.
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe and secure. Perform daily housekeeping and house management duties including maintenance requests and inventory. Prepare, serve and clean up after meals. Follow program and external guidelines and policies for kitchen safety and cleanliness.
- Prepare space for new clients. Assist clients who are moving in or moving out of the facility.
- Prompt, facilitate, and monitor residents’ self-administration of medications, as required.
- Utilize the formal and informal decision making structures within the organization and in the field to achieve goals.

- Follow established program and agency protocols, policies and procedures, including documentation. Provide and collaborate team with thorough, timely, legible, accurate, objective information related to individual’s treatment plan.
- Maintain an underlying curiosity and desire to know more about things, people or issues, including the desire for knowledge and staying current with health, organizational, industry and professional trends and developments.
- Utilize best practices in facilitation, conflict resolution, and meeting management when conducting productive and goal-oriented group interactions.
- Complete required trainings, both upon hire and annually.

The work of this position entails the use of standard office equipment as well as a wide variety of household appliances and equipment including but not limited to the clothes washer and dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave oven and vacuum cleaner. The work of this position requires that the incumbent be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English clearly in order to ensure client welfare and development. This position requires the ability to drive agency vehicles. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs, reach, stand walk, and feel 2/3 or more of the hours worked; remain in a static position, perform repetitive motion, and carry up to 2/3 of the hours worked; and, stoop kneel, crouch, push, pull, lift, and grasp up to 1/3 of the hours worked. The incumbent must also be able to lift up to 25 lbs from the waist, knee or floor.
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, awake overnights and weekends.
- Must be able to communicate with team members in-person and via email, text and Skype.
- Must meet the requirement of either A, B, or C:
A. Holds a bachelor’s degree or has completed at least 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits in behavioral sciences or related fields; AND:
- Has completed a practicum or internship that (1) required direct interaction with adults or children served, and (2) focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR
- Has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorder, emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities.
B. Has at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorder, emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities.
C. Holds a master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.

- Ability to attend weekly supervisions and all staff meetings.
- Ability to work days, evenings and agency holidays as required. Be available for scheduled shifts as well as emergency coverage on short notice, if necessary.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information and appropriate boundaries.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to maintain a clean driving record, a current driver’s license, and auto insurance coverage meeting Touchstone Mental Health policy limits.

- Thursday, Friday, Saturday – 10:30 PM to 8:30 AM (awake overnight) (0.75 FTE, benefit eligible)
